Advanced Social Worker Practice Manager

1. To manage a number of Family Centre Social Work staff and Contact Supervisors within the Family Centre Court Assessment, Intervention and Contact Service t hat undertakes a range of specialist assessments (both centre based and outreach) specifically targeted to families with complex needs, within a diverse local community
2. To ensure work is undertaken in partnership with professionals in house and colleagues across agency boundaries and that this work is in line with agency care plans to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and young people. Responding to and providing for the needs of children and families within statutory children's legislation and in line with the Department's policy and practice principles.
3. To ensure work undertaken is of a consistently high standard, critically reflective, analytical and evidence based, utilising relevant social work tools, knowledge and theory, and meets the needs of Tower Hamlets' diverse communities.
4. To ensure the quality and standards of professional practice and performance in the Court Assessment, Intervention and Contact Team are to a high standard.
5. To assist the Team Manager in the management and budgetary control of the team. Deployment of resources as appropriate, exercising effective budgetary control within the remit of the post.
6. As part of the management team to take joint responsible for the continuing professional development of the service delivered in partnership with CAMHS.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
7. To provide effective management support, case management and individual supervision and guidance, that is critically reflective, analytical and promoting high professional standards.
8. To ensure that work within the team complies with statutory duties and requirements.
9. As part of the management team to ensure effective allocation of referrals and work flow of the centre.
10. To ensure that effective childcare planning, meetings and reviews take place in respect of children and families receiving a service and chair such meetings where appropriate.
11. To operate within departmental policies and procedures and to comply with all statutory duties as appropriate, keeping the Manager informed as appropriate.
12. To ensure that the service undertakes individual assessments, interventions and delivery of contact services with children and families that formulate recommendations to develop children's physical, intellectual, emotional and social potential to the full, taking into account their religious and cultural background that inform care planning.
13. To ensure work is undertaken in partnership with parents/carers and that they understand the centres role in assessing and intervening to comment on their capacity to develop and maintain their parenting skills and abilities, to appropriately care for their children.
14. To contribute to the planning and delivery of the annual Centre Business plan which meets the aims and objectives of the wider Social Care departmental business plan and the authorities Strategic Plan.
15. As part of the management team to maintain close links with all in-house and external agencies ensuring that the work of the centre, is consistent with and adds value to the work of AEI Services and is in line with the wider Social Care agenda.
16. To ensure that information technology is used to its fullest potential to provide management information and to contribute to service planning.
17. Undertake all managerial duties in accordance with the council's policies and procedures, including the recruitment code of practice, sickness counselling, disciplinary procedures, anti-harassment and discrimination procedure, standing orders, scheme of delegating, financial regulations etc.
18. To attend court proceedings as required by the department.
19. To work along with the team manager and training section to ensure staff training needs are Identify and staff are assist in their professional development both in house and externally.
20. To participate in formal management duties in line with established Council procedures such as etc.
21. Authorise orders and payment within budgetary limits and financial regulations ensuring commitments are raised immediately and payments made promptly in accordance with agreed procedures and financial regulations are adhered to at all times.
22. To participate in meetings as a member of the Field Service Management Team.
23. To develop, monitor, review and improve the quality and standard of services provided by the team.
24. To ensure the linguistic, cultural, racial and religious requirements of children and their families are promoted and provided for.
25. Produce and maintain accurate records and originate reports, presenting those where appropriate to court, committee, hearings, panels, and other forums.
26. Cover for staff of the service as required.
27. To promote inclusive policies ensuring equality of opportunity and needs arising from this are addressed at all times.
28. To be responsible for the development, placement and support of students.
29. To actively take responsibility for continuing professional development and to communicate learning needs effectively and attend relevant and appropriate training.
30. A responsibility to ensure all staff understand and work to the Health and Safety policy and procedures, ensuring a high standard of safe working practice at all times.
