Children's Reviewing Co-ordinator

1. Chairing independently strategy meetings, initial and review child protection conferences, child in need and looked after children's reviews.
2. Provision of professional consultancy, guidance and advice to managers and practitioners.
3. Monitoring, developing and promoting consistent good practice standards in the implementation and interpretation of child protection, looked after children and child in need policy and procedure.
4. Ensuring that all child protection Initial and review conferences and looked after reviews are within the statutory time limits and conform to statutory guidelines and that child in need reviews are within internal timescales.
5. Supporting the continuous improvement in standards of practice in relation to child protection, child in need and looked after children within a Performance Improvement Strategy.
6. With senior management approval, develop and implement a Performance Improvement Strategy to ensure performance indicators and standards are achieved within this framework.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Act as independent chair for child protection conferences, strategy meetings, looked after children reviews, disruption meetings, joint planning meetings and child in need review meetings.
2. Ensure through the administrative support system that the child protection, child in need and looked after children databases are kept up to date.
3. Ensure that child protection case conferences, child in need reviews and looked after children reviews are undertaken with the full and active participation of social workers, children, parents and other appropriate agencies.
4. Provide case consultation to professionals in Children's Services, and Health.
5. Ensure effective liaison with all social workers and team managers involved in child protection and child in need and looked after children and in particular, to identify training and development needs, and promote consultation with young people and their parents.
6. Establish methods of disseminating information to children and young people and their parents about the child protection, child in need and looked after children service and promote user participation.
7. Liaise with team managers and social workers on the co-ordination of case conferences, strategy meetings, child in need and looked after children reviews.
8. Induct new staff into LBTH child protection, looked after children and child in need procedures.
9. Ensure that staff are fully aware of the implications and requirements of the relevant safeguarding and looked after children legislation.
10. Monitor and report regularly on performance in relation to child protection, looked after children and child in need.
11. Participate in regular practice and case file audits.
12. Maintain up to date knowledge of best practice, current research, legislation and policy about working with children in need, child protection and looked after children.
13. Maintain up to date child protection, looked after children and child in need information on FWi as required.
14. Develop policy and practice initiatives in child protection, looked after children and child in need.
15. Provide training workshops on child protection, looked after children and child in need issues as required.
16. Investigate and report on complaints as required.
