Umbrella firms 'could benefit as PAYE booklets temporarily unavailable'
IT contractors who use pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) payslip booklets are not currently able to be issued one of these for the tax year 2009 to 2010.

This temporary situation has arisen due to the fact the relevant offices are currently issuing the bulk of booklets for the 2010 to 2011 period.

Shipley Accounts Office will be disrupted between January 4th to 29th and issuing cannot be done from the Cumbernauld Accounts Office between January 25th and February 19th, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has revealed.

This will affect those customers linked to these two offices, highlighting the benefits of umbrella companies.

HMRC stated: "Customers who have a payment to make before these dates who do not have a payslip (or payslip booklet) should use the online facilities to make payments."

In other news, the HMRC recently announced that it will be centralising agent detail registrations for PAYE or self-assessment in order to boost efficiency.ADNFCR-2994-ID-19553759-ADNFCR
