UK's IT sector 'lacks much-needed skills'

The UK's IT sector is still not skilled enough, according to one expert, meaning there could be a wealth of jobs open to highly skilled IT contractors.
Richard Nott, director of CWjobs.co.uk said that although there are some IT contractors and other professionals of an excellent calibre, there are not enough.
"The UK is still very much an IT hub of the world and so there are a lot of IT jobs available in the UK - we just don't have enough people that have the right skill sets to fill the jobs that will come up," he added.
According to Technology Insights 2011, a report by e-skills found that employment in the UK's IT and Telecoms industry is forecast to grow at 2.19 per cent per year, which is almost five times faster than the usual average.
It was also revealed that the IT & Telecoms workforce will require 110,000 new contractors or other professionals to meet demand.
