UK IT sector 'to create 93,000 jobs by 2015'
The UK's IT sector is tipped to create 93,000 jobs in the next five years, welcome news for any IT contractor.

Research by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) has found that the IT sector is set to lead the economic recovery with an annual growth of 5.1 per cent to 2015.

The Scotsman reports Howard Archer, an economist with IHS Global Insight, as saying: "What investment there is will be in improving productivity rather than adding capacity. A lot of companies are cash-rich after seeing improving profitability last year and they will be looking to upgrade facilities such as IT."

Meanwhile, Gerry McLaughlin of ITContractor.com said that the trend for hiring IT contractors will grow next year but it will not just be business giants that take them on, with more medium-sized companies set to increase their outsourcing.

He added that skills such as C#, C++, Java, .Net. Banking and those with financial experience will be in demand.
