UK businesses 'are not correctly managing social media usage'
IT contractors may see a jobs boost, as firms continue to struggle with the implementation of social media into their business networks.

Use of websites such as Twitter as a marketing tool is still "horrendously managed" by many UK businesses, according to Doug Miles, UK managing director at the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) Europe.

Speaking to delegates at the AIIM Roadshow 2010, Mr Miles said that companies are also putting company information at risk as they are failing to recognise the problems that social media use can create.

He explained: "The majority of people do appreciate that this is going to change business – it already is changing business.

"For most executives social media is scary, but then so was email when it first came out."

The AIIM Roadshow was organised to help the IT managers and documents and records management users across the UK business world control 'content chaos' and deliver efficiencies.
