SEO 'will soon be the dominant form of marketing'
IT contractors may be needed to help smaller firms with search engine optimisation (SEO), as it will soon become the dominant form of marketing, it has been claimed.

SEO is at its best when it becomes a careful combination of content creation, generating citation, technical on-page SEO and other marketing techniques, according to the director of marketing at WordStream Tom Demers.

"In that context I think it will be the most cost-efficient and broadly effective form of marketing – digital or otherwise," he added.

When it is done properly, every form of marketing should complement the others, so SEO needs to be carefully planned, while brand reputation and relationships should be built on social media networks, Mr Demers concluded.

Over 95 per cent of the respondents to a poll by online resource firm Practical eCommerce said that SEO was an important part of their business, it was announced earlier this month.
