Scottish jobs market 'continues to improve'

The latest report from the Bank of Scotland suggests that job prospects north of the border are looking better and better, which is good news for IT contractors.
Appointments in both the permanent and temporary sectors increased significantly during the month of May, as did the number of positions advertised to jobseekers, according to Contract Eye.
These figures form part of continued rise seen in the labour market this year, although the bank did warn that the rate of these increases is slowing.
"This month's increase in appointments in both permanent and temporary jobs, as well as the rise in the number of vacancies available, is a sign that the Scottish labour market is in recovery," said Donald McCrae, chief economist at the Bank of Scotland.
He went on to say that the Scottish market continues to lag slightly behind the rest of the UK.
According to eFinancial Careers, many high street banks are now investing in IT, which makes them an excellent source of work for IT contractors.
