SaaS uptake expected to grow among Asia-based firms

IT contractors working from Asia-based companies could be set to see their access to software as a service (SaaS) improve.
Three-quarters of Asia Pacific-based firms are expected to increase their SaaS investments by the end of 2010, according to new Gartner research.
Eight in ten are currently using SaaS applications, with uptake having improved in the region over the last two years.
Commenting on the forecast, Gartner principal research analyst Twiggy Lo suggested that the region has high potential for this IT technology.
However, she underlined the importance of IT contractors working to integrate SaaS.
She explained: "A lot of fine-tuning is required, for technical issues, pricing and engagement models that comply with legal requirements in Asia-Pacific countries.
"Providers must be more transparent in meeting user expectations."
Earlier this week, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts indicated that enhanced IT services will be key to a high-tech economic recovery.
