Renewables contractors 'to see surge in demand'
Contractors in the renewable sector could see more job opportunities arise as the industry is experiencing a surge in demand for skills, one expert has said.

Nick Medic, head of communications at RenewableUK, said that more young people need to be encouraged to join the sector.

He added that many educational initiatives are taking place in locations which will soon have a surge in demand for such skilled workers.

"But clearly in the long run we will need more of such initiatives as some projections are that the sector could grow within the next ten years to 60,000 or 70,000-plus people," he said.

Research by Acre Resources has found that 'Green Jobs' has outperformed the rest of the jobs market despite the turbulent economy, with salaries of workers in the renewable sector increasing by five per cent since 2009.

Additionally, job satisfaction levels have risen by three per cent in this sector, with 71 per cent of participants saying they were happy with their jobs.
