Recruitment scheme launched to fill skills gap

The UK is experiencing a shortage of skilled data security specialist IT contractors, it is claimed.
In a bid to fill this gap with talented data security professionals, the government launched the Cyber Security Challenge UK, in cooperation with private data security firms such as Dtex Systems.
There are many talented data security workers out there, but many do not understand the business requirements involved with such jobs, according to Mohan Koo, managing director of Dtex Systems.
"We know the talent exists out there and we also know that the talent doesn't have access to the ways for employment it has poor knowledge of study paths to go down or routes to go down," he said.
At the launch of the scheme earlier this week, it was announced that 90 per cent of firms believe it is difficult to recruit cyber security professionals.
In addition, 60 per cent believe that the amount of jobs in the sector will increase in the next few years.
