REC looks to improve implementation of worker regulations
The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) has met with a government minister to discuss how the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) affect IT contractors and other workers.

Employment relations minister Edward Davey spoke with the trade association about a practical way to move forward with the legislation's implementation.

The government announced just this week that AWR is not to be reviewed in January, but promised to work with the recruitment sector in order to find workable ways of enforcing the regulations and providing guidance to the parities involved.

Robyn Holmes, managing director of Prime Appointments and REC member, said it is important the governments try to remove as much red tape as possible when looking to encourage growth.

"In the current climate, temporary work is an excellent way for people to get back into the jobs market and we must ensure that job opportunities are not jeopardised as a result," he said.
