Preliminary AWR regulations available by end of March

Contractors will soon receive guidance on the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) 2010, according to the Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC).
The draft of the AWR will be open for comment for a period of two weeks at the end of March, with the final guidelines to be made available around the end of April or early May.
Ben Grover, of the ARC, said that there is substantial pressure to publish guidelines soon, as many contractors have been waiting to read it before they change their strategies.
"The danger, however, is that people may take the draft guidance as read, and perhaps change their strategies prematurely even though the final guidance may in fact be different," he explained.
This comes after the Recruitment and Employment Confederation stated there are still many grey areas surrounding the AWR that must be smoothed out.
Workshops were held with employment relations minister Ed Davey to debate important subjects such as the benefits and bonuses that come with equal treatment for contractors.
