'No substitute' for a professional bespoke employment contract

A legal expert has reminded IT contractors and other freelancers of the benefits of having a bespoke employment contract drawn up.
Many websites offer a template for freelancers to adapt to their job and use, however there is no substitute for the piece of mind that comes with a professionally drawn up contract, claims Jody Tsigarides of Lawdit Solicitors.
Writing on FreelanceUK.com, Mr Tsigarides added that a professional will be able to explain exactly what provisions are needed in the contract, including adding any additional specific clauses that would not be included on a generic template.
"You will have a stronger contract in place with client companies you engage, and will have a contract which is worded to your advantage, as an independent supplier," Mr Tsigarides said.
Most IT contractors and other temporary staff are treated fairly by employers, according to the Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC).
The Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate announced last month that it had recovered nearly £200,000 in unpaid wages for agency workers in the last year.
However, this points to fair treatment as it is an "insignificant sum" in a sector that turns over £20 billion annually, the ARC claims.
