Many businesses remain uncertain about cloud computing

IT contractors may have to wait a little longer than expected for businesses in the UK to realise the advantages of cloud computing.
This is because, according to experts, the uncertainty surrounding it is putting off a number of organisations, ITProPortal reports.
While some companies are realising cloud computing's potential to reduce costs, many more have expressed concern over just how secure the technology is, while others simply don't understand the advantages.
Leading cloud computing strategist Scott Stewart wrote for CIO yesterday (May 26th) that no other IT technologies have been so "confused and misunderstood".
"Cloud computing represents perhaps the greatest fundamental shift in how we consume IT that you may see in your career and if you are a CIO [chief information officer] who wants to survive, you need to be on the right side of the 'I get it' ledger," he commented on the website.
Meanwhile, AFP reported earlier this week that Steve Ballmer, the boss of Microsoft, has attempted to convince Malaysia of using cloud computing for the day-to-day running of government.
