Lack of contracting clients could be due to website, expert says

The reason that some contractors may not be having much success with bringing clients in could all be down to their website, one expert has said.
Lexi Rodrigo writes on website Freelance Folder that one reason contractors' websites may not be working could be that it lacks clarity.
She explains that websites should be thought of as subject to "the five second rule", where if a reader cannot work out in the first five seconds what the contractor is trying to convey to them, they will leave and find another.
Another factor could be if the contractor hosts adverts on their site, which Ms Rodrigo says is both annoying and unprofessional. She says this will automatically make contractors lose clients and they will not gain much from it either.
Meanwhile, Andrew Girdwood, head of strategy at bigmouthmedia, said that when it comes to advertising, a combination of social media and search should be utilised.
He explained that people go to search engines with the intention of looking for one specific thing whereas social media brings web users in and then suggests products to them.
