Jobs market growth continues to slow

IT contractors will be interested to note that growth in the jobs market continues to slow, as the latest unemployment figures are released.
Data from the Office for National Statistics has indicated that the number of unemployed people in the UK fell by just 20,000 to 2.45 million in the three months to August.
Work and pensions secretary Chris Grayling told the BBC that in order to create more jobs, the national deficit needs to be cut to encourage more international investment.
Reacting to the data, the Recruitment & Employment Confederation chief executive Kevin Green said that the figures were further evidence that the jobs market is grinding to a halt.
"The focus must be on incentivising private sector employers to take on more staff and improving the support given to the worst hit groups, such as the near million young job-seekers," he said.
