IT contractors 'will need to develop new skills'
IT contractors will need to develop extra skills as the world of corporate technology progresses, it has been claimed.

By the year 2020, there will be five essential skills that IT contractors must get to grips with, according to Computerworld's Stacey Collett, in an article published by Reuters.

They will need to be analyse data, manage the risks of ever more complex computer systems and communicate how new technology can increase productivity.

In addition, IT contractors will need to be able master robotics, as many more automated machines will be in operation in ten years' time, while the importance of keeping up to date with trends in data security will be paramount, Ms Collet claims.

"These hybrid business-technology employees will have IT expertise and an understanding of business processes and operations," she notes.

According to the latest August Jobs Outlook from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation, the UK jobs market is starting to polarise, with different expectations from the public and private sectors.
