IT contractors 'will benefit under Tory proposals'

IT contractors will have more opportunities to take public sector contracts under a Conservative government, the party has claimed.
Tory proposals to open up more government contracts to small businesses are part of the new Conservative Party Technology Manifesto for the upcoming general election.
The opposition party believes these proposals will make the country "the most technology friendly in the world".
Additional help for IT contractors is proposed with the roll out of superfast 100Mbps broadband across the UK, making the UK a "hub" for creative industries and attracting more IT-based business.
The ultimate goal for the party is to make sure that the next generation of major IT businesses are British, according to shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt.
"To achieve this we need to ensure we have a superfast broadband structure that gives the UK a competitive advantage over other countries," Mr Hunt said.
Unhappy with the current poor broadband service the UK receives, the village of Lyddington in Leicestershire has set-up its own fibre-optic high-speed broadband network.
