IT contractors urged to show their disdain for IR35
IT contractors have been invited to vote to scrap IR35 legislation on the Treasury website.

As part of the government's Spending Challenge, members of the public have submitted over 44,000 money saving ideas, and as part of the next phase they have been invited to rate the best ones.

The options include several which call for the repeal of IR35 and Contractor Calculator chief executive officer Dave Chaplin says this is the perfect chance for IT contractors to highlight the strength of feeling against this legislation.

"Contractors can show government that in the ten years since it has been in force, IR35 has damaged UK Plc's competitiveness by unfairly regulating the flexible workforce," he added.

Although the government has already committed to ending the current system, it is important that the tax office knows why it is not liked by contractors, Mr Chaplin concluded.

Chancellor George Osborne has created the Office of Tax Simplification to fix the "spaghetti" bowl of tax codes that he says is hindering UK business.ADNFCR-2994-ID-800032507-ADNFCR
