IT contractors told to prepare for the private sector
IT contractors working in the public sector have been warned that they must get used to the working practices of private companies.

According to CWJobs.co.uk, public spending cuts will dramatically reduce the number of IT jobs available with public organisations, so IT contractors will have to look to the private sector for their next vacancy.

However, private sector companies work differently to public bodies, with different priorities and practices, according to Richard Nott, website director at CWJobs.co.uk.

As such, IT contractors need to look at their flexible skills and really be proactive about attacking the private sector jobs market.

"[The cuts are] a good thing for private sector companies, because they are going to get people that are highly skilled, that have worked on very large IT projects a lot of the time," he added.

Recruiter Greythorn recently claimed that the number of IT jobs in the UK is to reach pre-credit crunch levels before Christmas.
