IT contractors 'to see rise in VoIP projects'

There will be a rise in the number of IT contractors looking for work installing and operating voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) systems, an expert has predicted.
Diane Myers, directing analyst for VoIP and IP Multimedia Subsystems at Infonetics Research, claimed that the market has matured and has become highly-reliable for most sectors of the industry.
He suggested that France provides an excellent example of how this technology has developed, with carriers replacing fixed-line services with digital telecommunications.
"The mobile side of VoIP is really just beginning to blossom and, while it is far from mainstream, it is definitely growing in options and innovative offerings," he explained.
Ms Myers added that the reliability of these systems is most apparent in fixed-line solutions, which could see IT contractors being deployed to roll out these solutions.
Earlier this month, IBISWorld senior analyst George Van Horn claimed that IT contractors would be seeing a rise in the number of jobs installing VoIP systems that are on the jobs market.
