IT contractors 'to find plenty of technology jobs'

There are plenty of opportunities in technology jobs that IT contractors could take advantage of, it has been claimed.
Anita Holbrow, chair of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's (REC) future of employment working group, has highlighted the importance of entering sectors that have a strong growth prospect.
She said that it is important to hedge career prospects according to the best available information, suggesting that there are currently skills shortages in a number of areas IT contractors are qualified to work in.
This is one of the main challenges that the REC will face, with deficiencies in those trained in this area, along with science, engineering and mathematics.
"Recruiters are on the front-line of the labour market and therefore ideally placed to advise government on how best to maximise efforts to give people the right skills for the labour market," Ms Holbrow added.
In other news, the government has announced that an additional £34 million in European funding is to go to the Scottish jobs market, which could create new opportunities for IT contractors.
