IT contractors to face jobs cuts 'whoever wins election'

Job cuts are likely for IT contractors no matter which party wins the election, according to a smarter working practices group.
The large levels of national debt mean that spending cuts will have to be made, resulting in the loss of jobs from the public sector, claims Work Wise UK.
Recent predictions from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development seem to back these comments, with the group's chief economic adviser believing up to 500,000 public sector jobs will be lost in the next five years.
Work Wise UK's chief executive officer Phil Flaxton said that although half-a-million lost jobs seems excessive, there will have to be cuts.
He said: "There are probably more civil servants today than there ever has been in the history of the civil service and the public sector.
"One does wonder if there are going to be substantial cuts. [Savings] can't just be done through natural wastage productivity cuts."
