IT contractors 'to benefit from agency workers rights'
IT contractors could be affected by the legislation on agency workers' rights that is currently before parliament.

Pat McFadden, business minister, has claimed that this will improve conditions for the 1.3 million employees who work through agencies.

He said that the version of the law being implemented is in line with the suggestions proposed by the TUC and CBI.

"They are being implemented in line with the TUC / CBI agreement which sought to ensure fairness while maintaining flexibility for the UK labour market – a very important factor in our ability to create jobs," he stated.

Mr McFadden said that these changes will apply to temp workers who have been in the same job for 12 months and will require companies to provide them with the same rights as permanent staff.

In response to the legislation, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation has warned of the need to ensure that the new legislation does not add to the cost, bureaucracy and uncertainty of companies.ADNFCR-2994-ID-19574155-ADNFCR
