IT contractors to be represented in OTS

IT contractors have further representation in the Office for Tax Simplification (OTS), which is currently reviewing the suitability of the IR35 tax code.
PCG Chairman Chris Bryce has been invited to join the Consultative Committee, vowing to represent the 1.4 million freelance workers, including IT contractors, that operate in the UK.
Mr Bryce will be able to represent the views of IT contractors as the OTS seeks to build an alternative to IR35, after the PCG successful lobbied the Conservative to have the regulations reviewed in the build-up to the election.
"This is a crucial time for freelancers. It is our objective that this process will produce a fair and effective solution for all small businesses," he said.
Contractor Calculator recently warned that the replacement for IR35 may not leave IT contractors any better off, as the new code needs to be "revenue neutral", bringing in as much tax as IR35.
