IT contractors' skills should be constantly updated with training days, according to one article.

An article on Contractor UK states that due to the speed with which the IT industry progresses, training days should be much more frequent than for those in other industries.

In addition, contractors are usually excluded from internal training in workplaces due to the temporary nature of their jobs.

Indeed, Maggie Berry, managing director of Women in Technology said that finding a candidate with the right quality of skills can sometimes be a challenge.

However, she said that there are currently no specific skills shortages but gaining an IT job in the banking and firms sector can often be difficult.

"Looking at the IT sector more widely, I would say that a career in technology can pay well and offers lots of exciting roles that [cater] directly to the business and have a positive impact on the company's bottom line," she added.
