IT contractors should look to the booming City
IT contractors may want to look to the financial markets for job opportunities, as new research shows recruitment is booming in the City.

A survey by Morgan McKinley has found that job vacancies in the London financial district have risen by 71 per cent in the last 12 months.

July saw 6,048 jobs on offer from City firms, compared to just 3,528 which were available in July 2009.

This is taking the City way beyond other sectors looking to recover from the recession, according to the firm.

However, Ken Brotherston, chief executive of Kinsey Allen International told the Daily Telegraph: "The increase in jobs is more down to the shuffling of the pack of employees, rather than the creation of a lot of new jobs.

"Here we are seeing a return to the 'merry-go-round' of City employment."

Recruiter Alexander Mann Solutions recently claimed that IT contractors should look to the banking sector for job opportunities, as it is investing in technology. ADNFCR-2994-ID-800032484-ADNFCR
