IT contractors 'should expect cloud services boom'

There has been a considerable rise in the number of companies increasing their spending on cloud computing services, it has emerged.
A new study from Gartner revealed that 10.2 per cent of worldwide expenditure on external IT products is now dedicated to this type of software.
The company questioned 1,587 IT budget management professionals across 40 countries earlier this year, with 39 per cent saying cloud computing is a key initiative for their organisation.
"One-third of the spending on cloud computing is a continuation from the previous budget year, a further third is incremental spending that is new to the budget," explained Gartner's research director Bob Igou.
Chief executive officer of ThinkGrid Rob Lovell recently said that cloud computing gives workers the chance to be part of an office without physically having to be there.
It means colleagues can share stuff with one another whether they are at home, on a train or elsewhere, he added.
