IT contractors 'need business skills too'
IT contractors and others in the industry are increasingly required to have more pliable skills, one expert has said.

Richard Nott, director of CWJobs.co.uk, has said that companies are looking for IT professionals with softer skills in order to fit them around their business needs.

"It isn't just as straightforward anymore as someone sitting in the corner bashing out code all day; you need somebody who can actually translate that to the business end of it in layman's terms and actually deliver projects that the business requires in a timely fashion," he explained.

This comes after Jim Albert, managing director at Modis International, told Recruiter that the days have gone where an IT professional could excel in their field just by maintaining excellent IT skills.

He added that IT contractors and other professional that embrace business skills along with the technological side will enjoy more career opportunities.
