IT contractors 'must be inquisitive and alert'

IT contractors and other temporary workers have been warned that they need to be inquisitive and alert to the needs of others when joining private sector firms.
Leading recruitment firm Hays says that the biggest challenge for a new interim staff member is being expected to know people and processes straight away.
A spokeswoman for the firm says that this is why IT contractors and other temps need to ask questions, and be aware of what needs the firm and the individuals working within it have.
"Greatest accomplishment for an interim comes from knowing that you have gone into a business, completed the project and passed on the knowledge so it can be maintained," the spokeswoman concluded.
A recent report from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation found that demand for temporary workers in October continued to increase, but the growth rate has slowed to its lowest level in 14 months.
