IT contractors 'in demand' in the financial sector

IT contractors are feeling much more confident about the future of job creation in the financial sector, it has been claimed.
A new survey from Giant Group Plc has found that the financial services sector is the one that most IT contractors (30 per cent of those polled) feel provides the best opportunities for employment.
This is double the 14.8 per cent who felt this way in the same survey a year ago, the firm notes.
Giant claims that a number of financial institutions have "ramped up" their demand for IT contractors as they upgrade networks post-recession.
Matthew Brown, the firm's managing director, said: "Financial services businesses are adapting their front office systems to the realities of the post-credit crunch world.
"They are facing huge regulatory pressure to make transactions more transparent and improve risk monitoring."
Recent research from Morgan McKinley has suggested that there are job opportunities for IT contractors in the City of London, as the number of vacancies in the financial hub has increased by 71 per cent in the last year.
