IT contractors 'could find new work due to govt ICT plan'

A new strategy plan could see new opportunities created for IT contractors looking at public sector work.
The Cabinet Office has published a new ICT Strategy which will give cloud computing a more prominent role and is hoped to save £3.2 billion from 2013/14.
Additional changes will involve the creation of a single network for every area of government to improve ICT efficiency, IT contractors may be interested to discover.
Angela Smith, Cabinet Office minister, claimed that this will produce a smarter, greener and cheaper IT system.
She said: "We are innovating and revolutionising our ICT systems to ensure that they are as effective and efficient as possible for those working in the public sector, and at the same time we are able to make huge savings."
In other news, IT contractors could find more roles with foreign-owned companies following the government's announcement that it will be modernising the tax rules affecting global firms.
