IT contractors 'can benefit from Windows 7 knowledge'
IT contractors with an advanced knowledge of Windows 7 will be in high demand during the nest two years at least, it is claimed.

The latest research from analysts at Gartner has suggested that that the need to migrate from the 2000 and XP-editions of Windows will create an "extra budgetary and resource burden" for companies across the UK.

This will lead to demand for qualified IT personnel exceeding supply, Gartner claims.

Managing vice-president of the firm Charles Smulders said that companies usually wait to refresh the operating system and hardware at the same time, necessitating the use of extra staff.

"Whether replacing or upgrading PCs, it is clear that Windows 7 migration will have a noticeable impact on organisations' IT budgets," added Steve Kleynhans, research vice-president at the company.

A recent survey by Morgan McKinley suggested that IT contractors should look to financial hubs for work, as many large City firms are currently looking to update their IT systems.
