IT contractors 'benefit from cautious investments'
IT contractors are seeing stability as UK firms are choosing a cautious investment path, it has been said.

Contractor Calculator has pointed out that figures have revealed a return to IT skills shortages in the medium term, "further improving the fortunes of contractors in the sector".

"However, growth in all key sectors has slowed this month, and confidence is brittle across the board, with the full impact of the public sector spending review yet to be felt."

The Contractor Calculator Market Report for September stated that the Monster Employment Index fell by two per cent in July, while year-on-year it was up 17 per cent.

It also pointed out that IT contractors could see a period of a "tight" labour market as fewer candidates chase more jobs, according to e-skills.

IT contractors from overseas are likely to be needed to fill this gap, the CIPD/KPMG Labour Market Outlook for the summer 2010 suggested.

The Reed Job Index has also highlighted a positive environment for IT contractors, pointing out that demand for their services remained steady in August.ADNFCR-2994-ID-800061922-ADNFCR
