With the New Year coming up, many freelancers will be reflecting on the year past and setting themselves goals and resolutions for 2011.

Amber Weinberg, a freelancer with more than ten years experience, has advised readers of freelancefolder.com on how to set and meet their New Year's resolutions.

She says that contractors should look at the state of their business now, considering factors such as whether they enjoy their clients, volume of work, amount of money and projects they are working on.

When making resolutions, she says, it is good to set the bar high but not impossible so that you come near to your target but don't give up in desperation along the way.

She adds that contractors should continue with goals they didn’t manage to achieve the previous year.

This comes after Georgina Reed, HR expert and co-founder of Human Resources consultancy Reabur Ltd said that contractors need great people skills as well as technological know-how.
