HMRC 'changes PAYE filing rules'

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has announced a number of changes to the way that pay as you earn (PAYE) tax is to administered.
Employers will now be required to file their returns online, as attempting this on paper could result in a fine.
Stephen Banyard, from the organisation, warned that these are major changes which will be happening soon.
"We will be writing to affected employers over the coming weeks, so please look out for this information and take the time to read it," he stated.
Mr Banyard added that there is no longer a need to keep a hard copy of their Employer Annual Return if they are filing it online.
HMRC advised companies to consider their stationary requirements before ordering more P35s and P14s, as it will be reducing its stocks of these.
In other news, a tax agent consultation by HMRC, which could impact on IT contractors, is due to end on March 3rd.
