Govt 'to invest extra £64.4m in new job creation'

The government has announced that it will be channelling additional funding into the regions as part of a £64.4 million package of new investments, which could create new opportunities for those with IT contractor jobs.
It will be distributing the money to the UK's regional development agencies, which will support initiatives in a number of key innovation areas such as science, research and development and low-carbon manufacturing.
Lord Peter Mandelson, business secretary, claimed that supporting these organisations is the best way for the government to secure the country's future growth.
He highlighted these institutions as being the most effective method for the government to guarantee a return to economic growth.
Lord Mandelson stated: "For every £1 the RDAs spend, around £4.50 is put back into their region's economy. Over the past decade, this spending has created more than 850,000 jobs."
Earlier this week, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation announced it was backing the government's efforts to get as many people back into work as it could.
