Govt launches website to encourage contracting

A website has been launched dedicated to contractors and the problems they face due to being self employed.
The Department of Work and Pensions is asking the self employed to fill in answers to eight questions in order to get a better idea of the issues contractors face.
These include the questions: "What help or support do you think you would need if you were thinking of self-employment?" and "What types of jobs do you think of when you think of someone who is self-employed?"
According to the website "The Government is committed to encouraging people to work for themselves and to see self-employment as a viable route off benefits."
This comes after recruiter.co.uk found that 36.7 per cent of IT contractors believe the most IT jobs will be created in the financial services sector during 2011 which is an increase from 22 per cent this time last year.
