Govt IT strategy 'looks to reduce costs and enhance services'
The coalition government's ICT strategy, which may affect IT contractors and freelancers, aims to reduce costs and provide better services, according to deputy government chief information officer Bill McCluggage.

An ICT freeze on all new spending over £1 million came into force earlier this year, Mr McCluggage said.

"Then, in the medium and long-term, [we are seeing] how ICT can enable and empower savings and delivery of improved services, so looking at how we can offer new technologies into the business environment that allow an improved return on investment," he added.

Mr McCluggage made his comments at 360 degree IT, an event for IT contractors and professionals that ran at London's Earls Court between September 22nd and the 23rd.

The event featured the chance to meet more than 100 suppliers, including Dell, HP and IBM, as well as attending practical workshops, technical demos and panel debates.ADNFCR-2994-ID-800082187-ADNFCR
