Government backing for cloud services 'would allay fears'
A government-backed cloud computing service would go a long way to ease fears over data security, an expert has claimed.

The latest survey from 360 data has found that ten per cent of firms are too concerned by the security of their information to engage with the benefits of virtualised network data storage.

Reacting to the news, Doug Miles, UK managing director at the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) Europe, said that a public cloud computing service would remove most of these concerns.

"Obviously they wouldn't sell that themselves, they would endorse a specific cloud provision – and that might actually allow people to know that what they are doing is permissible," he explained.

Many firms are wary of branded cloud computing providers such as Amazon or Google, largely because they cannot actually see the people they are dealing with, Mr Miles added.
