Google Chrome OS 'may have missed the boat'
The Google Chrome operating system (OS), which is due to be launched as a trial programme, may not have a relevant space in the market any more, IT contractors have been told.

Paul Douglas, editor of TechRadar.com, said when the technology was announced a few months ago it sounded interesting, as many people were in the market to buy a netbook at the time.

However, he went on to say that "most people who want a netbook have probably already got one, and there are tablet computers now".

Google may also have a problem with people being disappointed with its OS as it "doesn't do all the things they have come to expect from their Windows PC", added Mr Douglas.

The latest report from the European Information Technology Observatory (EITO) indicated that the IT hardware market is booming in the UK, with sales of computers, printers and peripherals increasing by 11 per cent in 2010.ADNFCR-2994-ID-800283142-ADNFCR
