FSA announces significant recruitment plans for 2010

IT contractors may be receiving a jobs boost from Financial Services Authority plans to recruit 460 new staff in 2010.
The FSA will be employing extra staff as part of its plan for a more "robust" supervisory approach towards the largest institutions.
Reacting to the news, the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) said that any uncertainty over the future of the FSA in the build-up to the general election should not put people off applying for the available jobs.
"Over the past three to four months, the recruitment industry has seen a large increase in demand for workers in the financial sector, particularly for those with high-end skills," according to Bill Haynes, chair of the REC's accounting and financial services group.
The FSA announcement is positive news in a difficult job market.
Earlier this week, the REC said that the shrinking public sector jobs market looks like leading the economy into a "jobless recovery".
