Freelancers 'shun Facebook'

Freelancers are not utilising Facebook for business like other companies are, according to new findings by the PCG.
A tiny 1.4 per cent of contractors use Facebook as a business toll only, with 9.4 per cent utilising the social networking site for both social and business purposes.
In addition, the poll found that 48.4 per cent of contractors use Facebook purely socially, while 40.8 per cent avoid it completely.
However, contractors do prefer tools such as LinkedIn which allows more formal networking, with another PGC poll finding that 40 per cent of members saw the site as a vital business tool.
This comes after a Contractor Calculator expert said that it is essential for contractors to keep their skills up to date.
A good development strategy is essential, he says, if you have not undertaken the continuing professional development qualification required of a chartered professional.
