'Everyone must work together' to educate about online fraud

IT contractors and other members of the technology industry must come together to educate companies and individuals about online fraud, according to one expert.
Responsibility for online protection has to belong to everyone, claims Tony Neate, managing director of getsafeonline.org.
Software needs to be safe and easy to comply with, while governments must ensure that law and enforcements do more to protect people and firms who work online.
He added: "There's no one thing to blame and there's no organisation or individual to blame, we've all got to work together.
"It has got to be a joint responsibility to educate people."
Mr Neate now hopes that the new figures released by Action Fraud will make people sit up and take notice on this issue.
The UK's national fraud reporting centre found that, after having been contacted by 15,000 people, some £3.5 billion was lost by individuals to fraud last year.
