Demand for UK workers 'at six-month high'
IT contractors seeking employment will be pleased to hear that demand for UK workers has reached its highest level for six months.

This is according to the latest figures from the recruitment group Reed, which claims that the number of new jobs on offer across the country rose by two per cent in the last month.

In addition, salary levels for new vacancies increased slightly during this period, although they are still lower than they were in December 2009.

Martin Warnes, the managing director of reeed.co.uk, said that the figures were encouraging, especially in the former industrial heartlands of Yorkshire and Humberside.

"While there are still grounds for caution, with overall job demand lower than it was in February and public sector job numbers continuing to decline, overall this is good news for the UK economy," he said.

The latest Report on Jobs from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation claims that recruitment continues to rise, but the growth rate has slowed to a nine-month low.
