Demand for IT contractors increases in September

Online demand for IT contractors is increasing, according to the latest monthly jobs index from Monster.
Vacancies for IT contractors rose by one per cent in the month of September, the report states, while the long-term growth trend in the jobs sector has also improved substantially over the last 12 months.
Annual growth in job vacancies has now hit 22 per cent, and is set to continue to rise.
Monster UK & Ireland managing director Julian Aquari believes that this is a sign that the economic recovery is forging ahead, with more companies keen to expand their workforce.
"Online recruitment trends improved in a number of sectors, with more demand for professionals, having been concentrated largely in lower-skilled and blue-collar functions earlier in the recovery," he said.
However, the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics seem to suggest that growth in the jobs market is grinding to a halt, with the number of unemployed people falling by just 20,000 to 2.45 million in the three months to September.
