Data centre sector continues to expand

IT contractors may find job opportunities in the data centre market, as Frost & Sullivan reports that the sector is going the significant growth and change.
The growth partnership company says this is down to a number of factors, including rising demand from other firms looking for storage solutions and the appearance of powerful next-generation computing equipment.
Frost & Sullivan's latest study finds that the IT data centre market expanded to 108 million sq ft in 2009 and is expected to reach 177 million sq ft in 2010.
"From real estate and construction, to power and cooling distribution systems, to configuring IT and networking equipment, creating a data centre requires significant investment, as well as a long time to make it user-ready," said the firm's senior research analyst Lynda Stadmueller.
IT research firm Gartner recently claimed that companies using cloud computing should have more rights to protect their business interests.
