Cyber attacks 'the biggest threat to the UK'
The danger of a cyber attack is the most significant threat to UK security, according to one expert, which could create job opportunities for IT contractors.

In publishing the National Security Strategy last week, the government claimed that cyber attacks are as big a threat to British infrastructure as terrorism.

However, according to security experts at IT Governance, cyber attacks are an even bigger threat than terrorist activities, as a targeted cyber threat could destroy the country's ability react to any number of other crises.

IT Governance chief executive Alan Calder claims that complacency among IT departments could potentially be the biggest threat of them all.

He explained: "There are still organisations with a reckless disregard for information security.

"No one would go out and leave their front door wide open for fear of burglars; yet too many organisations leave their electronic doors open all the time."

A recent survey from Curion found that many firms are unsure of what they are doing when it comes to securing their data stored in virtualised networks.
