Contractors 'to have good 2011'

Contractors could experience a good 2011, despite overall uncertainty surrounding the jobs market, according to one site.
Expert site Contractorcollective.com says in its market report for January 2011 that the Monster Employment Index has reported that IT contractor demand has increased by 24 per cent since November 2009.
In addition, the site reports that the Confederation of British Industry has found that contractors should experience modest market growth as the economy recovers.
Moreover, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, many organisations will recruit temporary workers instead of permanent employees, meaning that the adverse job economic conditions could actually benefit contractors.
This comes after Gerry McLaughlin of ITContractor.com predicted that contractors and other workers in the IT industry can expect a "bumper year" in 2011, with supply of staff even struggling to meet demand.
He added that although the public sector may be cutting back, the private sector will more than make up for it.
